Before I came to Giordano's... I read the other yelp reviews, and honestly I was expecting the worst. The reviews were not so complimentary to this place. That makes me sad. I was a TOURIST and I wanted to be a tourist, and Cara A and I enjoyed our pizza thoroughly after a blistering hot 5K on Memorial Day. My pizza was amazing and I ate the ENTIRE thing like a fatty. The service was very attentive and while it is CASH ONLY you do not need to worry -- the ATM is across the street. (Welcome to Mass & the NE - just accept it people don't take credit cards). If you are visiting the Vineyard for the first time - this is a place you should visit. If you didn't ... wouldn't it be awkward when people ask you?

I visit Martha's Vineyard every year with my family. Every time we've gone, it's a must to go to Gio's more than once. It's our favorite place on the island. If your going, even for a day, you should try to go to Giodano's at least once. From the minute I leave the island, to when I come back the following year, I'm always more than excited for their fantastic fried calamari. Their pizza though, is also to die for. We always choose Gio's when we want a good pizza. Although we go during May, before the Island gets busy, I've gone during the summer. While the Island is completely crowded, Gio's knows how to handle the crowd better than anybody else. There might be a long wait, but it's more than worth it. I do find the prices a little high, but as I've said before, it's all worth it. I'll be back on the island in 16 days, and I cannot wait to go to Giodano's Clam Bar!

We were hoping to get some pizza slices, but we took one look at them and immediately rejected that idea. I don't see how anyone can think this is great pizza.... it is flat, icky looking and looks like it has been sitting under a heat lamp for a couple of hours. It looks just like the bland uninspired pizza you'll find sitting around at a hole in the wall sub shop in some small town that gets few customers. Sadly, it probably is "good pizza" compared to other choices on the island; I have yet to find great pizza anywhere on the island, although I saw another reviewer recommend something that sounded promising. So, we got other stuff. I got fried clam strips, and my wife got a chicken sandwich. The clams were pretty good, and weren't squishy or rubbery like some places do to them. The flavor wasn't great, but it was reasonable enough. And, they served a lot. (By comparison, Nancy's just down the street served small portions of clams, although they tasted better at Nancy's) It was a bit pricey, but this is typical on the island anyway. The chicken sandwich was good too. This restaurant is take-out, not sit-down, so I didn't have much opportunity to review service. But, the cashier was quick, polite and courteous. I'm just giving it 3 stars because the clams and sandwich count as 4 stars, but the pizza looks awful. One star lost due to pizza.

A busy Italian restaurant in Oak Bluffs I was expecting a very mediocre (or worse) fare but then again we went there just to take the kids. I can find things wrong with pizza but my kids think pizza is pizza and love it anywhere. Well here's the low down. The pizza is very small for what they refer to as a large. The kids loved it and that's what counts. I can say it was a bit doughy but it is what it is. I ordered the fried calamari and was so surprised that it was so tender, fresh, juicy and crispy and tasted really good. And it was even cooked in clean fresh oil. Finding a place that does calamari without a fishy smell and without old burned oil is a challenge but this place does it right! The clam chowder is also very good. The staff was friendly and attentive. This is not a fancy gourmet place but it's really good for what it is. The food is well above average and not expensive.

Their pizza is amazing. I go to the Vineyard almost every summer. The only pizzas I've tried are Cheese and Mushroom Pizzas. Keep up the good work Giordano's. 5 Stars.

We ate SOO much seafood in MV, that one night we had a pizza craving. Giordano's had a great take-out window for pizza. We ordered the MV special, which surprisingly was packed with meat and veggies. The service was quick and friendly and the pizza satisfied our cravings. Luckily our hotel was right up the block and had great tables for us to sit outside with our own beverages and enjoy a quiet and delicious dinner. The best part was that it only cost $22!!!

Really enjoyed our lunch a few weeks ago on a hot and busy Vineyard day. They handle a crowded lunch rush quite well. As most of our party ordered salads and sandwiches I grabbed a slice of pizza from the take out window next door (same restaurant, different method) after checking with our server first. No problem! So, that made the munchkin happy while the rest of us enjoyed tasty sandwiches and the antipasto salad. Loved that salad, chock full of meats, olives, pepperoncini, and while it was iceberg, it was good and the dressing quite tasty. Would go back. Service was friendly and efficient and the food hit the spot. I had the eggplant panini, good flavor and nicely cooked.

Went to gios while on the vineyard. I had been to the takeout last year and it was really good but im now reviewing the actual resturant. I ordered cheese pizza and pepperoni. My brother got chicken to share as well. The pizza was better then average Vineyard pizza but the chicken was another story. My brother took his first bit of the chicken and said it was below average. I assumed he was being his normal critical self when it comes to resturants, so I tried it to prove my ponit be trying it. To my surprise, it sucked! Belive it not, I spit it out. It was way undercooked and chewy. Fries were okay though (Thank God)! I would probably say this is 3 1/2 stars. I would go back though.

Simply put, Giordano's is a family tradition for my tribe. We have been eating here for over 20 years. If you are impatient, are needy for wait staff to be available for your every beck and call, or are looking for a nice quiet place to please your pallet, save yourself and all of us from your Yelp wrath. The place is BUSY! The help (as you can imagine) turns annually as its staff leaves the island and their wait duties to pursue frat parties and eventually a higher education. Simple food, out of this world Egg Plant Parm Pizza.

Oh give me a break. Ordered to large Pep, sausage and Green Pepper pies. Hot yes, gummy dough, miniscule flavorless sauce and toppings cut with a laser they wee so thin. Honestly it was pretty much par for the course in Vineyard dining.

  • Jeffrey B.

The pizza is the only thing that is good on the menu. The meatballs aren't very good. Not a very good taste. The sauce is so so. I wouldn't recommend sitting down in the restaurant. The place is a zoo.

Great pizza but unbelievably bad service. The woman at the take out counter is just plain rude. I guess when you have a monopoly on the island you don't have to worry about losing customers.

Gio's is a mainstay of Martha's Vineyard. How can you miss it when you walk off the Oak Bluffs ferry and it is practically the first thing that you see? And it is no mistake that they have been here for three (going on four) generations. They have the knack for turning out consistently good food at affordable prices (even though they are on MV!). Their pizza is the best on the island and could beat a lot of the pizzerias on the mainland. Their fried clams and scallops are also worth the trip. There's nothing fancy about their food and that's what makes it so great. It is simply delicious without anything getting in the way and that goes a long way as more and more places try to reinvent classic dishes like pizza and the like. A visit to Gio's will not disappoint! Be sure to make it a stop on your tour of the island!

Zero for Customer Service!!! My family and friends had the worst customer experience ever from this restaurant. We were treated very rudely by the hostess/manager and some waitresses. At first, my husband ordered 2 pasta dishes for our kids for takeout from their restaurant. Later, our group decided to eat in somewhere and I convinced them to eat at Giordano's (my big mistake). After we got seated, and while waiting for the rest of our party to arrive, we opened the takeout boxes we ordered earlier so our kids can start eating (this was already very late lunch and kids were very hungry). This was when the hostess/manager approached us with a condescending attitude and a raised tone and very rudely said to us, "You cannot come here to eat your takeout food. This is for dine in only. You should be ordering food." We tried to tell her that we do plan to order but she just kept on talking without giving us a chance to talk. When I finally got the chance to say that our party plans to order, as if to drive her point even more, she rudely said, "Then each of you should order." Then she left. For a moment, we were in a state of shock at how badly we were treated. Then we decided we should leave the place. This was when we experienced another round of rudeness. When we started to stand up and leave, the waitresses around did not seem to mind. When we caught a waitress' attention and said we were leaving, she just brushed us aside and went straight to another table. She did not even care to stop and ask us why. When we finally talked to our waitress, we explained why we were leaving and told her how rude and inconsiderate the hostess/manager was (imagine, the takeout food was from their restaurant). Instead of being sympathetic, she did not even apologize and instead kept saying "ok" repeatedly with no eye contact, and with a "talk-to-the-hand-i-don't-care-if-you-leave" attitude. Worst, the hostess/manager pretended to go about her business and did not approach us again to apologize or listen to our complaints. Unfortunately, there was no other person we can talk to, she is the dining room manager and there is no one higher around (according to the staff). Their afternoon was slow, there were about only 3 tables occupied. With the size of our party, we could have gotten them good business that afternoon. Now, we're spreading the word - to all we know and on all online reviews - on how badly we were treated in this restaurant and to skip this place when in MV. Our message to the rude staff: ---- If you mistakenly thought that we went inside the restaurant to just eat our takeout food, you could have at least have said it nicely. Instead, you were so rude - like you were scolding a bunch of little kids. Worst, who in their right mind would assume that customers would go in to eat their takeout food? C'mon, we're well educated people and we don't do that. ---- The takeout food was ordered from your restaurant and from your restaurant menu (not from your takeout window next door). Worst, my husband ordered it from the same hostess/manager, so she knows its their food, its from their own business! What's your problem with us eating your own restaurant food? Is it the tip? ----- "Then each of you should order." is what the hostess said when we said our party plans on ordering. First, it sounded like a threat. Second, you have no right to tell us how we should order - whether we decided to share or not, that's not your concern. You cannot kick us out if the order count does not match the number of people in our party. Again, this sounded like a shallow-minded person making stupid assumptions about other people. The hostess/manager is very rude and the rest of the staff has the same attitude. They should teach these people a lesson on customer service. Better yet, fire them. We did not expect to get this experience in a place like Martha's Vineyard. (Earlier when we were entering the restaurant, I already noticed how rude the hostess was. We were in line going inside and she was behind me. Instead of waiting for us to get in first, she forced herself through us so she can get in first. It was a red flag I should have paid attention to.) Incident: Labor Day, Monday, September 3, ~4-5pm

Our most recent visit here will probably be our last - at least for dinner or anything other than a slice of pizza at the take out window. That's not to say the pizza is spectacular, because its not. Its fine, average pizza that, if you're in the mood, will hit the spot. This is consistent with practically everything else on the menu - its all just average food, nothing great. However, the portions are small and prices are high. I was craving fried seafood and was tempted to order the Fisherman's Platter - however, I was told they wouldn't substitute anything for the scallops; not even a cheaper item like clam strips or even fries. Instead, I ordered the Fried Shrimp - as a side, I chose the pasta. Brought to me was a very modest portion of shrimp with the pasta marinara all on one medium-sized plate, with the pasta sauce running over into the shrimp. Typically, most restaurants include fries with a fried seafood dinner - not Giordano's, though. My wife ordered some baked seafood combination which was advertised as including lobster meat - there was one piece of a lobster claw on the plate (not even a whole claw). I've had other dishes here, before - mostly Italian dishes. Again, all average. Lastly, I should mention they don't take any credit cards. I'd normally give two stars for this type of review, but I'll give Giordanos one star because of the way they gouge tourists who have limited dining options in MV.

This review is for the takeout seafood window, not the sit-down restaurant or pizza takeout. We went on Columbus day weekend, when the main restaurant was closed for the season. We were looking for some takeout that we could bring to the beach and enjoy. After going to a different restaurant and waiting for more than 10 minutes without anyone taking our takeout order, we found Giordano's. The takeout was busy, and looked good. We loaded up on fried clams and a lobster roll, delivered pretty quickly. We got a few drinks and snacks at the Reliable market and headed for the beach. Sitting on the uncrowded beach, eating seafood on Martha's Vineyard - a perfect afternoon. The fried clams were fine, not perfect, and the lobster was also good, although the lobster was a bit chopped up instead of in large chunks. The fries were a bit soggy, but that's what happens with styrofoam takeout containers.

  • David B.

I ordered take-out pizza from Giordano's so that's the only thing I can talk about. If this is the best pizza on the island, then I'd hate to taste the alternatives. We found the pizza to be bland at best, with service to match.

    (2)
  • Ash Lee M.

great pizza (and I'm from NJ so that's a compliment) and even better meatballs. Counter girls who ring up the orders need to work on their attitudes, though. Otherwise it's a good place if you don't go on the weekend when you can't get in the door

Review of the pizza: good cheese combination, decent sauce, just the right amount of grease, remaining crust tends to be inedible and over cooked. As for the other fare, I don't really remember it all that much. It was ok, but a bit pricey. There's no real reason to wait around for a table as there are other decent restaurants in OB.

    (3)
  • Karl F.

Excellent place to eat, open late, located in OB. Pasta is my favorite here but they have a wonderful menu with italian food and seafood. I always make sure I visit Giordano's when I visit MV.

Legend has it that year-rounders buy Giordano's pizza at season end and freeze it so that they can defrost them one by one and eat them during the off-season. This is the best pizza you'll get on the island. Call ahead. Far in ahead. Because sometimes it's an hour wait for a take out pizza.

    (4)
  • Kathleen O.

slices........ ONLY place on the island...... everything else is dog poo on pita. Everything else on Martha's Vineyard for pizza is a joke. Living here year round means not having pizza in the fall/winter AND spring...

  • monika c.

The pizza is very good. Also, reasonable priced. The rest of the entrees are quite expensive for the quality of the food. We also got fried calamari, which was not very good- kind of soggy, bland and the batter fell right off as soon as the waitress placed them on the table. The service was good and I should mention that the place is very kid-friendly, which was great for our 2 year old.

I grabbed 3 slices of pizza for 9 dollars and change. The young lady working the counter served it tho me on 3 paper plates. I asked her to please put it in a box for me. She says ok then throws it in a bag. I asked her again to please put it in one of their small boxes because it would be easier to manage for my trip. She informs me that they have a 4 slice minimum for a box. I then ask for a box a third time. A gentleman who works there then gives me this lecture about how I did not need a box then tells me I can have one for a quarter. Are you kidding me! I spent a few cents shy of 10 dollars for 3 slices of pizza and I cannot get a small box. I gave him the quarter but it will be the last one I spend at this establishment.

A trip to the Vineyard would not be complete if I did not venture down Circuit Ave to grab a bite from Gio's. My bf even has a GIO bumper sticker on his car! I love their traditional spaghetti and meatballs with meat sauce and a nice big bottle of their straw basket Chianti. Their servers are always sweet but look underage. But, what do I care? I'm on vacay on the Vineyard and I'm at Gio's. HEAVEN!

Large old reliable Italian eatery on corner of main drag. Bruschetta was ok, nothing great. Shrimp pasta with white wine garlic sauce was pretty good. Shrimp pesto pasta was decent enough. Nothing special but on the other hand, hard to go too wrong here.

This pizza holds up to great pizza anywhere. I had just had a great meal down the street but then walked by Gio's and just had to find room for a slice. A local institution that is consistently one of my favorites.

  • shawn g.

We were in Oak Bluffs for four days, and managed to avoid eating at Gio's until the last day when a severe thunderstorm warning rolled in, and I had a craving for fried clams. I got some take out, and they were decent, but like every other batch of fried clams I've ever had. The pizza smelled good, but the sit down entrees seemed overpriced to me. It is a vacation spot, and maybe they bank on that to charge high prices. There are other more interesting places to get Italian and other types of food if you just look up the street a bit.

    (3)
  • Ralph L.

Fast service and tasty good. Not great big portions but just right. Friendly service as well. Prices are just a little high but you have to expect that when visiting a island.

  • Elizabeth M.

I went there today for lunch and the pizza was awesome! A cheese pizza is approximately $14, which seems a bit expensive. I only got a slice because I didn't want to carry around a pizza box, but it was great and left me wanting another slice. Later in the day, I tried the chicken fingers and french fries. The chicken was good, but the fries were soggy and kind of gross, so we ended up throwing those away.

My co-workers, my friends and I come here often for pizza and their fried seafood. The restaurant is a little pricier than I'd like especially since I find a lot of their dishes to be mostly what I consider comfort food. That and the restaurant portion doesn't accept credit cards, or didn't the last time I went. The pizza bar and the clam shack do though and since the renovation to those parts ordering is easier and much more comfortable especially on rainy days.!!

  • Anna F.

The food is good, probably 4-stars worth, but it is very overpriced. If there isn't a long line and you have the cash, go for it.

  • Leah S.

this place really annoyed me. lame service (if the hostess and wait staff are going to ignore me, could you at least not stand right where i can see you to chat?), food was mediocre at best and they informed me when i went to pay that it's cash only. in this day and age, you need to have a BIg sign saying that when i walk in. so annoying.

This place has it all. Great pizza, awesome fried clams, fantastic Italian classics in the dining room. Service was great and the portions are very good. Great with kids.

My friend's family eats here every Friday night when in the Vineyard. We ordered take out and had a little bit of a wait. Being a New Yorker I am prone to not like pizza in other states, its in the water you know. Apparently Gio's has dealt with that problem. The pizza is good, give it a ring if you have the urge while on the island.

    (4)
  • Holly W.

WOW. I am sort of surprised by all of the good reviews. Gio's is fine. It's an Oak BLuffs institution, a two star, MAYBE three star restaurant. I've never been overly impressed. Their pizza is good, I will give them that - I would order take out form here. But everything else on the menu is pretty standard, greasy italian/bar food - mozz sticks, pasta dishes, etc. Not only is it less than average, but you pay a freaking arm and a leg AND you waited in a huge long line for it!! Walk up Circuit a bit and get something better.

    (2)
  • Aretha B.

I'm going to go ahead and say that Gio's has the best slice of pizza on the island. Primo used to be the only close competitor - but now that he has slipped into the bliss of retirement, Giordanos it is!! I've only eaten in the restaurant once. I'd say skip it. Just grab a few slices and head to the water.

Best pizza we could find pre-Memorial Day on the Vineyard. Far better than Joe's in Vineyard Haven. We were also happy that they had other options for the non-pizza lovers, such as lobster bisque and chicken sandwiches. We were just bummed it wasn't open for lunch and the dining room wasn't open at all, since it was pre-season. Two weeks early? Cut us a break! Let us sit inside, please!

    (4)
  • Juggy W.

I can't say much about the pizza but the restaurant was pretty mediocre. the veal in my veal pasta was 80% batter. the service was also terrible - the waitresses had no idea how to enter orders and took them a LONG time... most of them rather chat among themselves than helping the customers. and btw... they do not accept credit cards even at the restaurant... is this chinatown or what??!!

    (2)
  • NYC P.

The take out stands at this place attract tons of people. I was on the Vineyard last week and had to make my way through crowds of people to and from my hotel. I just had to try the pizza and wings to see what all the hoopla was about. The pizza is small, overpriced, served lukewarm and is average tasting. The wings and fries which have to be ordered inside were kinda gross.....won't go there again.

    (2)
  • Gia M.

We came here for lunch - luckily right before the lunch rush hit - though it didn't matter because the service was very spotty and our food took a really long time to come out. The food was below average - but we didn't order pizza - the pizza looked good. The lobster roll was good but a little on the salty side. Overall I thought it was an overpriced pizza joint. Won't be returning.

"Meh" pretty much sums up my experience there. First off, Giordano's is NOT at the address listed by Yelp. 107 Circuit Avenue is in the middle of a residential neighborhood, about a half-mile away from the restaurant's actual location. Someone should update this information with the correct address (call the restaurant and they will provide it... its right downtown, across from the carousel). As for the establishment, I decided to check it out because of all of the four and five star reviews here on Yelp. I fail to see what is so special about this place. The decor was dreadful, the wait staff was polite but neither particularly friendly or outgoing and the food was sub-par. I would have gone for the pizza, but--against my better judgement--I was sold on the "all you can eat fish fry" (featuring sole) by the waitress who told me that it was outstanding. My fish was overbattered and soggy. The fries were decent and the cole slaw was actually the best part of the dish. The waitress (who was AWOL for most of my meal) eventually showed up to as if I wanted more fish. I declined... not because I was stuffed full, but because I probably would have made myself sick if I'd eaten any more of the greasy fish.

This was the BEST restaurant ever in Massachusetts!!! They had the best pasta and wonderful fried clams. You cannot ever go to Martha's Vineyard without going to Giordano's. Everything was so fresh and delicious like you wouldn't believe!!! I will drag my friends back to the East Coast again Just for Giordano's!!!

  • Nicholas C.

Gio's pizza is the bomb. sometimes the line is super long, but it is well worth the wait. I used to drive a cab in O.B. and I ate their pizza once a day sometimes twice. The reason why the resturaunt part sucks so bad is because it is a tourist trap for custies. When have entrees at a pizza place ever been good? Just because they have a separate dining room from their take-out doesn't fool a sly mongoose like me-self. I don't fall for sh*t like that. I've never even thought about going in the restaurant.

  • Casey D.

everyone down here RAVES about gio's pizza. and yes it is delicious, but im not exactly sure if its the best pizza ive ever had. i have sat down and ate, and just got take out a few times. service is usually pretty good, but its just always soooo packed there. good touristy place to go, but ive had better

Cannot say about the restaurant, but it is by far, the best slice of pizza on the island. it's quick and friendly service make it a great pit stop will walking around Oak Bluffs, and a great way to postpone having to stop for a large meal.

  • Fernando A.

The food was plentiful, cheap but lacking real quailty. This place is a good option for lunch before heading out on the ferry. I would tell you that it does do the job in delivering a nice, hearty meal that you will not remember the next day.

I have eaten at numerous pizza places in my life and seem to pick up a slice where-ever i travel. This place I can say was not the worst as some have said and it was not the type that I can not live with out. However, I did enjoy it. It was not super thick crust and not greasy. We got the pizza to go it was too long of a wait to be seated. I did not try their clam chowder as the others in my party did and they raved about it. I have heard the clams are good but I truly can not attest to that, did not try them. The pizza though was great to get with family and sit around watching the TV.

Hubby didn't want seafood and last time we were on island we stopped in to get a slice of pizza at the window so we decided to eat in. The young man that waited on us was great. very pleasant and had a great sense of humor. We of course ordered pizza. We decided to add on fries and buffalo tenders. The tenders and fries were good, same stuff you get everywhere. The pizza was as good as ever. Been going here since I was a kid. Looks pretty much the same as it always did. I loved going in as a kid because of the elevated pizza trays that they had. It's the silly things you remember from your childhood. Yes it is touristy, guess what a lot of stuff on the island is! It's a vacation destination for thousands! Oaks bluff pretty much sums up tourist town. The food was good, the service was good, it was clean, and they did take a credit card.

  • Jacques B.

The atmosphere is awful. Between the unrelenting screaming of children and adults talking over each other the floor is so loud I developed a pounding headache. The tables are much too close together and there isn't enough space to put the pizza. Speaking of pizza, the food was very mediocre. The "cheese pizza" didn't have much cheese at all, the sauce was bland, and the bottom of the pizza was burnt. Given the quality, the pizza is overpriced. Wait time was average for pizza.

  • April K.

Got a slice of cheese pizza from the takeout counter for $2.99. It's a little pricey compared to the $1 slices of pizza you can get in NYC, but that's what is expected when you are in Martha's Vineyard. Pizza is great overall. Pizza comes out sizzling hot and fresh.

  • Shweta A.

This place has a terrible ambiance, food, and service. My husband and I do not eat seafood so we decided to come here since we enjoy italian food. We expected casual dining when we entered but it was below expectations. The service was very slow, and the server took about 10 minutes to even get our drink orders. It was another 15 minutes or so before our drinks made it to our table. We constantly had to keep getting the attention of our server to get service. We then had our cheese pizza brought out and it was very bad. We ended up having a slice each and leaving the rest. Overall, it was an unsatisfying experience.

This is a loud family restaurant in a prime location. Lots of people & noise. But, the pizza is worth it: yeasty crust, plenty of cheese, good toppings (try the pesto!) the bar is stocked, big beers are only $7, and the wait is usually 5 minutes less than quoted. We keep going back....

Best pizza in oak bluffs, we ordered 2 large pies from the take out window on a busy illumination night and had our pizzas in less then 15 minutes. There staff was very polite and the food was great, a very well run and organized establishment.

This place is a horrible excuse for a restaurant. I realize that it is a tourist trap, but it was disgusting and the service was the worst. It was also incredibly expensive and they overcharged us and wouldn't remove it from the bill; they never told us the side they suggested was an extra charge. So we spent $160 for a terrible lunch. DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE!

Perfect pizza! Just the right amount of sweetness in the sauce, right blend and amount of cheeses, huge slices, always quick, and cheap. What more could you ask for while on vacation? They are cash only.

Came here for dinner on a Saturday evening. Place was a little crowded, but the wait was short. Everyone in my party of 3 really enjoyed the food. I ordered shrimp parmigiana and it was delicious. My only issue was with the hostess. She was quite rude when she told me I couldn't wait inside for a table and had to go outside to wait for my name to be called. I had no problem waiting outside, but it was the way she said it.

Not sure who these fools are who eat here every Friday night. Guess they've never had truly authentic delicious Italian food. $40 early dining special for two with a bottle of wine is fantastic. We had eggplant parm and baked haddock. Wine was actually delish. Food sadly only so so. But, you know what? I'm not on the Vineyard to eat Italian food, so it's all good. Pizza takeout next door is wonderful. That's where I'll continue to frequent Giordano's.

The pizza is probably the only good thing there. I got the meatball sub, which had a WHOLE bay leaf in it and the French fries were cold. Overall, the food was so so. I also got the spaghetti, and I've had better. The service was fast, but not that good. I can't say I'd recommend it.

We've been coming to the Island for years and likewise have been coming to Giordano's for years. Always pleased with our meals - good food, good value, service is fine and good family environment.

Excellent offering among many options in the downtown area. The food is really good and consistent. Their pizza is probably the best on the menu!

Gross. Fast and friendly but the food is disgusting and the place feels like a factory.

Fast service. Friendly waitress. However my so called "angus" burger tasted like it was frozen from a box. Like you can buy at price rite. Also over cooked on an untoasted bun. One slice of pink tomatoe on top. Daughters eggplant panini was made with mushy not fried and battered eggplant. What drew us in was that it had been in business since 1930. I'm sure the quality of food was better there in years past. Avoid!!

Giordano's is a great restaurant to visit. From pizza to seafood, they have it all. They have what I consider to be the best fried oysters anywhere. The fried whole belly clams are also second to none. A great location in Oak Bluffs right near the historic Flying Horses Carousel.

The service was quite slow. I should of known not to go to a Italian restaurant and order the fisherman's special. It consist of fried haddock, fried shrimp, fried clams, fried scallops, and a stuffed clam. Everything came out well done and very bland. Now please excuse myself while I go barf it up.

My girlfriend and I are pescetarians and we ordered the popcorn shrimp. We voiced to the waitress that it didn't look like shrimp but she said insisted it was. We ate half it and decided to ask again because it really didn't taste like shrimp. We found out they gave us popcorn chicken. We hadn't had chicken in 10 years. On top of that they didn't apologize nor give us our popcorn shrimp unless we paid for a new one because we ate half. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.

The grease was dirty. My partner is a chef. over the years, you pick up a few things when married to a professional. My biggest complaint is the grease; it's dirty. It's not changed nearly enough. That or the fryers aren't cleaned properly. The staff is helpful, but this place gets so busy. It took a while to get a soda refill. There are three hostess standing at the desk, which is in the center of the establishment. These hostess are more than able to step away for a moment and check on tables while the wait staff is serving or cleaning. Speaking of clean, I almost fell during my last time there. The floors are the red kitchen tiles, non-glazed. But, they are covered in oils, salad debris, and spills. I do love their food, except the chicken parmesan. The pizza is really what keeps me coming back. I think, from now on, I will only do take out because of how poor the restaurant really is.

I've been to this place a few times. The price is reasonable and the food is consistent and quite good. I've never had the pizza there during dinner. The clam chowder is good, a little bit grainy and too much potato for my taste. The shrimp & scallop pesto, seafood alfredo, and haddock parm were all very good for the price, and much of that has to do with having fresh seafood. The service was good.

Best fried clams I've ever had! So juicy and tender, flavorful and fresh (am I allowed to use so many adjectives in a sentence?), it's almost like a freshly shucked and fried oyster! (except that it's not, and is a delicious tasty clam instead) Other items are okay, clam chowder was very "meh", and I probably wouldn't order anything else from this place. But the fried clams are worth a return trip for sure!

This is funny. Some people are definitely getting paid to write positive reviews for this place. We split a pizza (one size only - one size fits all!). Every topping costs $3 dollars extra. We asked our waiter if we got just one half with toppings how much would that cost and guess what the answer was - still 3 dollars! Yay!! Soo we decided on getting a pepperoni, peppers, and mushroom pizza. Total came to around 26 bucks just for the pizza. It tasted EXACTLY like a frozen California Pizza Kitchen pizza that my girlfriend picks up from the grocery store (She actually told me to stop saying that because it was insulting to the California Pizza Kitchen's frozen pizza). Do yourself a favor, save the 20 bucks and spend $5 on a frozen pizza and call it a night. I am reading the other reviews over on the side about how good it is, there is no way these a real reviews.

Great pizza! We ordered the pepperoni pizza and decided to dine in. The staff was friendly and courteous. The wait time was only fifteen minutes. The pizza was perfect. The crust was thin and foldable (NY style). The sauce had a nice semisweet flavor. The pepperoni was was crispy and seasoned to perfection. It was gone in a matter of minutes between the four of us. Best pizza by far on the Vineyard!

Had the lobster roll sandwich at $19. Had a lot of lobster meat but it wasn't tasty and it was cold. I do not recommend it. They only take cash

Unfortunately, I can only give Giordano's 4-stars CUZ I haven't eaten at all the seafood restos on Earth. 4 stars cuz I LOVE its Lobster Roll and cole slaw recipe. My sis and I ordered one. The seasoning and mayo perfectly dressed the chunks of lobster meat - not too creamy or salty, I think I taste white pepper. The veggies in the cole slaw was fresh-looking and crunchy, the ratio of mayo dressing to slaw was on-point. I even ate the cole slaw on my sister's plate.

After walking buy over and over I had to try the pizza. It smelled so good from the street. I ordered a cheese and broccoli/pepper from the take out line. While I could not figure out if there was a difference in the sidewalk window compared to the counter inside, the entire pizza team was amazing. I stood inside while my pizza was being made and this team was impressive with how efficient and quick they were, and most of all, accurate. I took the pizza back to the boat and it was as good as it smelled! I'd order pizza from here again in a heartbeat.

The pizza is good, NY style. The cashier who took our orders wasn't very friendly. We were very excited for our pepperoni pizza. We ordered 4 slices and she placed parchment paper over two slices before placing another two on plates on top. Of course the cheese from the bottom was stuck to the paper. It didn't make any sense to us. I had to rearrange them and it was possible to lay them side by side.

Gio's. Yes, they now have the best pizza on the island. When they open up again in the spring after their long winter vacation, islanders of all ages celebrate with joy. This is what it means to be an islander. (The other celebration is for the opening of the local Dairy Queen in Edgartown. School kids take the day off to head down to both of these places on opening days. This is true.) Take it out and devour your pizza slices in the park or on a bench overlooking Inkwell and you'll be really, really happy. (Don't forget to bring your drinks and your napkins....and do throw out that trash in a nearby trash bin, please.) If you prefer a menu and other more formal options, including chairs, a table and a sweet college aged waitress, you can eat in. Fried clams, pasta, salads, calamari....You want it? They have it. Parking is just miserable in the summer, so take the VTA, ride your bike or walk over. Avoid the local taxis. Their outrageous prices will delay your retirement by a few years. If you do snag a coveted parking place, you can toss the kids onto the horses at the carousel across the street while you wait. Then wander up the street for ice cream. Oak Bluffs is a total scene, with all kinds of people, all kinds of food and an action packed atmosphere, despite the fact that both movie theaters are never, ever open and look like trashy dumps. Get over to OB for some great pizza and a close look at the wild and crazy summer scene that is nothing like Edgartown, Vineyard Haven or any of the up island towns. Your trip to OB will not be complete without a slice or two from Gio's.

You know... I go all the time for the slice at the take out window... love the pizza, love the cleanliness of the place, the up keep is done top notch and it still retains that "older" Oak Bluffs charm. We sat in the dining room this time. Booths are a tad bit odd for a large man like me but still comfortable enough as it's not a bother. The waitress, AMAZING, she was witty, comfortable with the customer, took her time and allowed everyone ample time to look over the menu and talk at the same time. Not rushed. I think her name was Brittany? I had apps at the table from bruschetta, onion blossom, fried cheese sticks, stuffed clams and caesar salad. All were great and we didn't want to stop eating it all even though our entree's were on there way. Entrees, seems like 3 out of the 4 had some type of fettucini alfredo, I had seafood F.A. two others had the chicken with mushroom F. A. and the 4th one had eggplant. I don't know how the eggplant was as she is not a sharing person but she seemed to have loved it. The old pictures on the wall were really cool to see. I love seeing what OB could be and was. It's not what it used to be but nevertheless a fun town with a style of it's own. Giordano's was a pleasant meal, great service and a great value. PS. the pizza is great too!

Excellent fried clams (whole belly, of course, although they also offer strips). The batter is light, the clams very fresh and flavorful, and I didn't encounter a single speck of sand in my whole meal (which is rare, sadly enough). Head to the takeout window, and then park yourself on a bench somewhere in the sun and enjoy.

After 2 days of working a conference, all I wanted was to bring a pizza back to the hotel room and relax. After Googling asking a VTA driver for the best pizza place, we settled on Giordano's. The woman on the phone was very patient with my numerous questions (we were in the car, on the other side of the island, with no internet so we couldn't look up the menu). On her recommendation, we went with the Meatball Parm Pizza, which was AMAZING. I ate 3 huge slices. It was not too greasy or oily (although, I did de-grease, but only used 1-2 napkins). It was nice and thin, but with a thick end crust. It wasn't as good reheated the next day, but it was still delish. And it was only $17.50 for a really good-size large!

Good place for lunch, but a bit pricey for what it is. Four people on the luncheon special came out to nearly $60. Good food, good portions, good location. Probably does well as one of the only Italian joints in town.

Having grown up in New Haven (some say the "birth place" of pizza as we American's know it today) and being a regular of the greats like Pepe's and Modern Pizza, I think it is fair to say that I am some what of a pizza SNOB. Not that I won't eat bad pizza, I do all the time, but I truly appreciate a good, authentic "New York" style pie, and Giordano's has it! Of course it does help that it is an annual tradition to grab slices from their take-out window on our way for our visit to the "Flying Horses" across the street, but even horses that fly couldn't make a bad pizza good. The simple fact is, they make GREAT pizza and I look forward to visiting every summer, because it is ALWAYS good; they have it down and don't mess with a good thing. I did actually have a chance to dine in last year, and given that we were there at the height of tourist season, on a Friday night, and had 16 in our group in an already crowded restaurant, I was super impressed with the staff and the service that we received. I had the Lobster ravioli and it was wonderful. The sauce wasn't too heavy to drown out the lobster flavor, which is key for me, the lobster queen. I usually don't order anything with lobster IN it, because I don't want anything to get in the way of taste (like mine JUST steamed, that's it) but for some reason I had a hankering and it paid off. There were so many other family members there that night that I have a hard time remembering what everyone ordered, but I do know that all 16 of us walked away, happy as clams!

This is a good choice for those with children. The pizza is edible, the coconut shrimp is not. On the extremely positive side, they are very accommodating to families

Haven't tried any of their other offerings, but their pizza is very good. They make a New York style pie with a flavorful thin chewy crust which is rare in Massachusetts. If you prefer the thicker, oiler, less chewy, pan-made Greek style version then this is not the place for you (at least not for pizza).

Don't do it except for pizza! Found our way to Giordanos via an owner for a rental house we stayed in. As a local we figured that she knew her way around and failed to realize that she had two teenagers, and must go for the pizza. We were very disappointed not only with the food, but with the lack of responsiveness of the wait staff. Ordered a Greek salad to split, which was fine and fresh. Ordered the stuffed shrimp special which was served over rice and asked them to substitute linguini for the rice (hey this is an Italian place right? How hard can that request be?). The shrimp were overbaked and the linguini was in a bowl to itself with some red sauce on it. For $20 the meal was very mediocre. She had the ravioli with mushroom sauce. It was not edible. She tried to fight through it, but the food was unacceptable, and without after a couple bites, she told the waiter. He said he was sorry to hear that, and took it away, then brought the bill. There was zero attempt to do anything to make it right, or to lessen the pain. We paid and left, never to return, and wanted to make others aware of the food - or worse yet, the treatment that we received. I read here that the takeout pizza is good. Just don't venture onto the menu.

My family visited Giordano's for dinner on a weekend night. We were sat quickly, our server was very sweet & helpful. We had pizza for the kids & the adults had the lobster ravioli & baked haddock. Everyone loved what they got & enjoyed sampling the others. We will definitely be back!!
